Francis Sling

Francis Sling is an artist from Curaçao. Welcome to his studio, as it appears in his book Strange Bird.

The Bubble

What you see on the homepage is the Bubble: a see-through room, drawn from above, with Francis at work in the middle. The walls are covered in paper: pencil drawings, poems, photos and sketches, each held in place with a strip of blue tape.

Stepping inside

Scroll down or choose “Step inside”, and you sink into the Bubble until you are sitting next to Francis. There the wall slides past you, without end. Everything on it can be opened; only then does it get its colour. Scroll back up and you are outside again.

Francis Sling

Francis works in pencil. He draws flowers, birds, vases and the people and places around him, and he writes poems. His studio is a room full of paper: what is finished and what is still to come hang side by side on the wall.

The book Strange Bird

In Strange Bird, Francis opens the door to his studio. This website is that studio: step inside, look around and open whatever you find. Every work has its own page you can share.
